WHAT A DIFFERENCE A WEEK MAKES

ANSELMIANS U10’s MATCH REPORT
The Saints v Parkonians
30/10/16
“Second best!”
MOTM - Toby Anderson
Every cloud has a silver lining …. after a huge performance last week we were well and truly
brought down to earth with a bump! Hopefully the positive from game is that we can never sit on
our laurels - rugby has a habit of biting you on the bum if you think you’ve “arrived!”.
Today we welcomed our very good friends from Parkonians to Malone Field, it is always a great
atmosphere when playing them, hard, fair and great support! I hope it’s fair to say that in the past
Saints have had the edge over Parks at this age group, but today they were well and truly stuffed!
We simply did not have an answer to their play, they shifted the ball to the wingers who did the
rest. They managed to rip the ball from us regularly and turned every turn over into a score, so well
done Parks!
I can’t put my finger on why The Saints failed to show up today, maybe complacency but basically
we were second best in all areas - simple. I can assure you all that I will be working very hard to
try to make sure that I can assist the boys in producing a bit more consistency in the future. On a
massive plus point I was so happy to hear the boys confirm that they had enjoyed their run out, it
makes those Saturday nights planning and Sunday mornings all more worthwhile when the boys
enjoy themselves.
However, there were some good points today, our “littlest” downing their “biggest” with a wicked
tackle that I’m sure has come from the Karate mat - well done Lewis Cairns! Will O‘Halloran was
also working very hard in every area getting himself involved. Josh Rose got dirty and made some
telling impact on occasion.
Finally this brings me onto our “Man of the Match”, Toby Anderson. His tackling has always been
ferocious but now he has been listening to the coaches and did not miss any tackles today
because he had his “head-up” before collision. Well done Tobes!
Training next week - lots to work on!
