Mavericks humbled !!!!

Well played Collegiate ! That's probably the only message I can give for this performance . The Mavericks turned up to the stately home that is Liverpool Collegiate with a fairly solid side, we had to call players in from all corners but eventually managed to field 15 thanks in the main to Sean from Oldershaw who agreed to play in order to get us up to 15 .
We knew Collegiate were going to be stiff opposition due to their league position being one above us, however what transpired over the next 80 minutes did not truly reflect their league position.
The Collegiate team that faced us where, by all agreement, the best team we have faced all season. Well drilled, very fit and physically capable and The Mavericks were left wanting . I feel the score was a true reflection of the game and we were beaten by a superior side.
To focus on the positives from the day, everyone from The Mavericks who took the field put their bodies on the line facing up to the physical onslaught , as a result injuries were a plenty and within a few minutes of kick off we learnt the type of game we were going to have to manage.
Equally so, for every positive, the were many negatives. As a rule I do not like to focus on the negatives but as the game approached I made a conscious effort to do so (there was method to my madness) !!!!
The Mavericks let themselves down today, there was no commitment at the breakdown, fitness levels were extremely low and personal motivation was non existent towards the end. I include myself in all the above criticism. Those who know me will know I took no pleasure in the post match team talk . A general berating of players with an overriding message to all present to walk away from this match with a personal reflection on how they could improve, and were they let themselves down which they were to bring to our next fixture the following week against New Brighton ,
