Oxton Parkonians v Anselmians Mavericks - 6.10.12
Well, after four straight wins, the Mavericks were hoping to produce another fine display of running rugby, against one of their more local & reliable adversaries, but it was not to be.
An early cry-off by Parkonians left the Mavericks looking for a pool game, and the only one available was Rhyl 2’s away. Dom Woolley was heard asking ... “You need innoculating to go there, don’t you?” & “Do I need a passport? ” God loves a front rower!! As it turned out, this game was also called off, so no game this week for the Mighty Mavericks. It seems that our opposition have heard about us!
Without a game, the Mavericks reverted to what they do best ... and went shopping, to the pub, decorating, or watching the telly!
All, that is, except Captain Tim. Tim was last spotted in his ‘new chariot’ (an MG convertible in British Racing Green), which he bought during a mid-life crisis moment , cruising down the M58 around Skelmersdale, top down & wind in his hair, shades on & Matt Monroe’s ‘On Days Like These’ blaring out of the casette player (younger players YouTube ‘The Italian Job’). Now, I am not the worlds most travelled individual, but I would recognise the difference between the Skelmersdale Concourse shopping centre, & the Italian Alps! God does love boys and their toys.
It was good to see some Mavericks supporting the 1st teams win against Wirral, and supporting the bar.
Anyway, next week sees the Mavericks make the short journey to Mold, for what will be another second encounter of the season, and hopefully more game time.
