With Corona and Lime taking its toll the squad was down to its bare bones, indeed after everyone of the squad being in Court until late Friday night it was amazing we actually took the field at all. A few late additions and a couple making their first appearances of the season enabled us to field a full eighteen. The biggest surprise however being the return of Mother Duck who’s been out injured since 2010 at West Park with cramp.

Chairman Ravi at prop was a surprise inclusion, he’d been in Court the previous night for “Conduct Unbecoming” the crux of the case being that under his tenure as Club Chairman he has singlehandedly lost a Clubhouse, made the delicate young men from the club associate with the ruffians of Ellesmere Port and he’s also responsible for the shutdown of rugby worldwide, obviously he pleaded guilty and took his medicine or was it vodka?

Now cometh the hour, cometh the man and in Mark “Manc Hater” Petterson ( he doesn’t even like me) we had that man. In a solo performance that ranks as the best by an Anselmian since Mike Potters at Lymm, Petto was awesome, three tries, three conversions, three penalties and three drop goals. Petto didn’t give Manchester a sniff of a chance. 39 - 0 at full time, truly unbelievable.

The return of Sean “Alacadoo” Hastewell at Centre was an inspired move by myself, Hastey regularly putting Petto through to score.

Will Sass would have started in the back row but his mum ordered a Chinese Meal and so he was late for kick off, it has been noted that he has got form for this.

Man of the Match was easy this week as there can only be one candidate, Mother Duck changed the game when he came on and enabled Petto to score all the points, enough said.

Diffy Duck, well thanks to Zoom, Messrs Redfearn, Clayton and Sadlers Wells held court Friday night and had a ball.
