After another trying week in selection and after great expense, we managed to select three full teams again. The biggest coup was flying Andy Stenhouse back from Dubai to play Ducks but he’s a clubman through and through, loves the lads and with the offer of free airfare and a dollop of spare Tonga Wonga how could he resist.

The selection of Chris Wells and Lee Thomas ensured Ellesmere Port International Airport was also busy.

Now unknown to the committee the second team have been in serious negotiations with Tony Woodley and have now be renamed Anselmian Astras but this does ensure us a fleet of cars to ferry the boys to away games.

Saturday morning the boys are all raring to go, Vauxhall Astras are all lined up, then as often happens in the life of an Anselmian Manager the game gets called off and so all that effort, stress and time goes to waste, good job we do it purely for the enjoyment.

Man of the Match obviously went once again to Nath Redfearn, if he doesn’t get player of the season there’ll be no justice, he’ll probably rig the voting on that one as well. Diffy Duck, well it must go to Stenny, flies in from Dubai, we think to play but then admits to actually coming back to see a Frankie Valli tribute night. No game next week at the minute unless they rearrange yesterdays, the 29th is the curry night after the Holmes Chapel away game, we’re trying to sort a minibus for the game and if that doesn’t tempt boys to play I don’t know what will.
