After what I would consider a decent season, the lads finished seventh in the division, mid table but probably a position that doesnt do justice to how they’ve played for large parts of the season. As I’ve said previously there’s only one side we’ve played who I would consider to be better than us and they are worthy champions.

We’ve used 70 different players (didnt realise we had that many at the club), we had 34 different try scorers, our one game wonders all contributed, Andy Peel at Helsby stands out, but Ollie Green, Jamie Golagher, Ewan Nolan, Stocky and Matt Spencer all made an impression.

We had some nasty injuries during the season that have had an impact, Taggy the Hip, Matt Spencer’s knee, Ewan Nolan’s ankle, Will Sass’s shoulder and Skips shoulder, it was good to see everyone at the game yesterday and looking to be on the mend.

We’ve played some great rugby and the backs at time have been on fire, the forwards have been tremendous all season and won us ball to allow the backs to play. We’ve had our disagreements, titty lips, teddy bears thrown, dummies spat and more than a few cross words. It’s been fun though I would suggest.

In Tyler Brookes, Dylan O’Dowd, Liam McGowan, Ewan Nolan, Cal Thomas and Will Sass, we have a group of teenagers who haven’t looked out of place when they’ve played and indeed will make the squad anytime they’re available.

The old heads have again nursed the young lads through and all contributed, my thanks to the dynamic duo of Hasty and Chrissy Mc particularly, always there when the going got tough.

A few notables from the season, Cal Graham’s grounding and celebrating his try at LSH, the ball on the five metre line. Browny at Helsby tripping over his feet and knocking on, his hands weren’t much better, Ben taking the biggest dummy of the season, Cams big hit on the LSH Centre, Browny being side stepped twice by the ball. Devos legs at Carrington (FKW), Tom Reds chip over the top, Brookesy kicking the floor and doing his knee.James (Moana) Dear on the naughty step at Manchester.

Memorable matches, beating promoted Helsby three times, beating Old Bedes twice at home, Wirral at home, Carrington away but the best one for me, battling back at home to beat Manchester in the rain, gritty performance, never accepting we’d get beaten.
