DUCKS 18 - CRUSADERS O - MAVS 2 and 1 in Ikea.

What's in a name? Ducks are simply quackers.

There are times when you just have stand back and admire what's happening in front of you, as I said last week the boys are starting to find their feet after promotion and if the forwards won us the game last week, today the backs were outstanding.

Once again the forwards created the platform for the backs to cut loose, but things didn't start well being shunted backwards in the first couple of scrums and struggling at line out time. Once things settled down and we began to secure our own ball, Didsbury struggled to contain us, Jug Avoider last week, Ben Tagg helped himself to a hat trick before half time. The centre partnership of Petto and Ollie was strong in defence and even better with ball in hand, Ollie helping himself to a nice try also before half time.

We were as what now appears to be the norm, our usual benevolent selves conceding a string of silly penalties which piggybacked Didsbury down the pitch and resulted in them crashing over near the posts after a 5 metre line out. 26 - 7 up at halftime.

Father and son, Graham and Lewis were always in the thick of the action, Captain Hearn strolled round, Chris McGowan didn't score this week, Oater had his best game so far this season, Andy Barker stepped up from the Mavs and replaced ever dependable Eddie at halftime, Joe Carew was excellent in the lineout. Tom Redfearn, playing his first game for us this season, only made one contribution, losing the Duck before kick off. As I said the forwards created the platform.

Harry at scrum half had his best game yet for us and Ben Sadler Wells was quiet of mouth but Boss on the pitch, can't forget Sam Bramhall who never put a foot wrong all game, ( never touched the ball in attack, never had to make a tackle in defence), perfect performance.

Second half tries from Brookesy, Cam the Limp Clayton and Cal (Darren Anderson) Thomas rounded of a great performance.

Duck of the Day went to the whole backline but Ben you were outstanding, Diffy Duck had only one contender and he got it before the game started, however because he was on call he Ducked out and found himself a Wingman to drink for him, however here's the twist, getting your better half to down a beer for you is going to be hard to live down, so Fiona Robinson was officially Diffy Duck today.

There's always a downside, wouldn't be me if there wasn't, five penalties conceded in the first ten minutes of the second half could be lethal against a more clinical team.

Top performance lads but the games get harder from now on.

Mother Duck.
