I suppose this is what we've been hoping for over last couple of weeks, there are days when everything seems to come together and what you've practiced in training just seems to come off, Saturday was that day. The forwards set the platform, dominant in the scrum, solid in the line out (even if its very deliberate) and making yards after the breakdown. This allowed the backs to find space, run set moves, play off the cuff and generally run Congleton ragged.

The welcome return after his jolly to the States, Drake Mallard was superb, carrying well, making big yards and ever reliable at scrum time. Count Duckula was back after his hamstring scare (he didn't realise prop forwards had them) and had a great game. The most telling factor on the day was my inspired laminated name plates, you could see the lads puffing their chests out with pride (small things amuse small minds) and I've got a small mind.

Captain Magenta de Spell had another good game with his centre partner Daisy Duck and apparently they are claiming a hat trick as they come as a pair, although they didn't get a jug in for the lads. Tom Campbell returned and was excellent with four tries to his credit, but he's away again now so hey ho another rethink.

Picture the scenario:- three minutes into the second half, twenty yards out, just wide of the right hand post, ball goes over the wall straight into the top corner, perfect, but wait it was a conversion, it was supposed to go over the bar. Scrooge McDuck had kicked five from five in the first half, scored a try, everything had gone well, his sixth conversion is where it started to go wrong, the lads forgot to remind him you're supposed to kick the ball not the floor, as he limped back rubbing his knee, he wasn't happy. Diffy Duck Matt Brookes, even a hat trick of tries, couldn't save you.

Duck of the Day goes to our influential captain, and has Toby Armstrong said last season, we haven't lost a game when I was captain.
