NO IT WASN’T THIRD TIME LUCKY!

NO IT WASN’T THIRD TIME LUCKY!

Not Quite Up For The Club.

After my old mentor Jose went off on one this week and after watching yesterday’s game, I can honestly relate to what he was suggesting. What do these supporters expect “ We have lost to Carnforth, we have lost to Crewe and now we lose to LSH, that is where we are at,” “Some of my players can only play when the sun shines, they struggle when it is cold and dark,” “When I leave this club I will leave behind Tyler Brookes, Dylan O’Dowd and Tom Price.”

On the day we were beaten by a better team, LSH are the best team we’ve played this season and thoroughly deserved their hard fought victory, great set of lads in a game played in the right spirit, no quarter asked non given. I wish them well for the final.

On a day when we saw all four seasons during the game, we played the first half downhill and into a gale, LSH started the game well scored two converted tries early doors and kept us on the back foot all half, we had our moments and at times maybe with a bit more luck and composure would have scored ourselves. The pack acquitted themselves well at scrum time to try and get us a foothold but we struggled to get over the gain line. LSH won the collisions when it mattered and also helped themselves to two penalties before the break 0 - 20 halftime.

At halftime the concensus of opinion was we were still in the game and with the wind at our backs we needed to play in the right areas. We started the second half well and applying a bit of pressure scored a nice try down the wing through Kris, rocked by this and with us falling asleep and also falling off tackles at times, LSH made us pay with three more tries, a late consolation try by Tyler after a catch and drive from a line out was converted by Ben. Full time 12 - 39.

LSH are well drilled and play some very good rugby and as I said before they are the best side we’ve played this season, boys take a good look, learn from the experience and let’s upset a few more sides before the end of the season.

A few notable moments from the game, Cams remarkable banana kick or donut kick was it, he also put a great hit in on the LSH centre, unfortunately he’d already passed the ball. Ben Sadler was sold the most outrageous dummy I’ve seen in a long while, even he admitted it, play to the whistle son. Tyler and Dylan continually impress, Hastey had a great game, not sure whether he’s broken his new snozzer though but can only improve his looks.

No Duck of the Day, didn’t seem appropriate. Diffy Duck went to our very own member of the Royal Family, just like the Queen, he actually has two official birthdays, yesterday being one of them. Cam got it for being Cam, don’t leave your phone lying around mate, school boy error.

Small point for my detractors, we did have a first team game yesterday, we also had sixteen lads who have played for me on numerous occasions in our last four games unavailable for selection, that’s why we couldn’t fulfil our 3rd team fixture, you play with the hand your dealt, such is life.

One Team, One Dream. Mavaduck time.
