DUCKS SEEM UP FOR THE CUP!

The Boys win the Penalty Shoot Out.

What a difference a week makes and having a few more players available certainly helps. After pillaging the Mavs last week and scraping a side together, it was great to have most of the lads available for selection this time round, next week however already five of the boys are unavailable again, INTERNATIONAL FIXTURES are the bain of Club Rugby.

Yesterday the boys won twice, 46 - 15 the scoreline and 20 - 2 on the penalty count, how we conceded so many penalties and Old Bedians so few, in a contest my totally biased opinion suggests we dominated I will never know, indeed for the second week running we lost a man too contact with the head whilst our player is lying on the ground. Baffling no penalty given for the second week running and what with the new directives about contact with the head, indeed confusing.

We scored as early as the second minute, good work by the forwards, slick handling by the backs and Taggy scores out wide in front of the clubhouse. Last weeks Duck of the Day Ollie went off 5 minutes later after he butted someone's knee and the reshuffle affected our continuity, 20 minutes of stalemate in which we defended well and then when we got ball in hand tried to force the play resulted in no further points until Old Bedes were granted another penalty and took the points 5 - 3 game on?

The lads had now settled, our scrum led by I'm playing even if I do feel like s_it Chrissy Mc was dominant, our line out was functioning well, Lewis Keen and Tyler Brookes wanted the ball at every opportunity, Dylan O'Dowd was doing what he does best and debutant Lima Nonu showed that he's learnt quite a lot watching his big brothers ( there'll be a lot more players sat on their backsides, when he gets match fit). Three tries in the last 15 minutes of the first half, Tom C, Dan "the returning" Meredith and Dan Jenner put us 22 - 3 up at the break.

A couple of changes at the break saw Chrissy Mc allowed to return to his sick bed, and Jon Oates coming off the bench, the try scoring continued straight from the restart Kris Lewis going over, great to see him back after his lengthy lay off. Lima crashed over for his first try for the club and Kris got his second try. Old Bedes never gave up getting a couple of tries themselves to keep the nerves jangling but a 60 metre break by Tom C ably supported by "Please give me a pass" Sam B, saw Tom fall over the tryline. 46 - 15 didn't flatter the boys, cut out the penalties and we'll score more points.

A Semi Final now awaits with some interesting opposition lying in wait, Helsby 1s, Chorley 1s or LSH 2s, the lads fancy a coach trip but I think a trip on the Millennium Falcon to Tatooine looks favourite.

Duck of the Day had plenty of contenders, Lewis Keen had his best game, Tyler was outstanding, Ollie only put his head wrong, Sam Bramhall would have bagged a hat trick if someone had passed to him but Dylan O'Dowd won it again. Kris it definitely wasn't you that won it.

Diffy Duck? Now you make your debut, score a try, look after the Duck like it's your best mate and have a hand off to die for, all sounds great doesn't it? Now you make Chrissy Mc get back off his sick bed and you are yet another KIWI PROP who's had his head shoved up his backside by an ENGLISHMAN ( top work Old Bedes), Lima, Uce are the man.

We learnt a harsh lesson yesterday, you can't afford to upset the referee in the pre-match talk, remember Skip, if the referee says your names Cameron, your names Cameron don't correct him, it's not appreciated.

May the Force be with you.

Mother Duck.
