After an encouraging victory against Eccles last weekend, the 1st XV travel to the Peak District to face unbeaten, table-topping Glossop. In their five games thus far, the Hargate Hill outfit have only once failed to gain a winning bonus point.
Despite being one of our furthest fixtures, Saints' visits to Glossop are always eagerly anticipated. Having missed out on promotion to North One West, Glossop have developed into a robust and enterprising side who enjoy themselves on and off the pitch.
It is difficult to win in the Peak District, but they remain one of the friendliest and most hospitable clubs exhibiting traditional rugby values whether playing or entertaining visitors.
In our successful campaign two years ago, we won at Malone Field by two points, 26-24, and lost away, again by two points, 16-14. Whilst we have had success at home, it is a long time since we won at Glossop.
Games between to two sides are usually high-scoring and keenly contested and it is unlikely that this latest encounter will be any different. Saints will confident after their latest victory but Glossop will defend their proud, unbeaten record.
