This weekend, the1st XV travel to Aspull for their second consecutive away game after their encouraging start last weekend.

Aspull won an heroic victory at Aspatria last week 30-31 and will be keen to mark their first home in South Lancashire/Cheshire 1 with a victory.

Last season, they won both the South Lancashire/Cheshire division 2 and the Lancashire Plate and ended the season unbeaten, winning all twenty league games.

Before the advent of leagues, Aspull was a regular fixture on the Anselmian calendar.
"The Emus", based at Woodshaw Park near Wigan, were formidable opponents as befits a union team trying to survive in rugby leagues heartland.

Like all "junior" clubs, Aspull have had a chequered history, but they are currently "on the up" and Anselmians will have their work cut out to register their first win of the new season.
