Anselmians had the home side under pressure in the first 10 minutes and despite number 8 Loa Tupoa going over the referee said the ball was held up. However, they did manage a drop goal from Simon Mason before the home side scored a try on 12 minutes. The score was 5-3 until 27 minutes when turn over ball was moved wide left and the Anselmians backs put left wing Nick Lytolis into the corner. Mason converted to give a score of 5-10. The visitors extended their lead 3 minutes later with a Simon Mason penalty to go 5-13 ahead. However, on the stroke of half time and after a sin bin offence for the visitors the home side scored another try following a catch and drive. They failed to convert and the half time score was 10-13.
Anselmians were fired up for the start of the second half and centre Marcus Coast was punching holes in the defence and setting up opportunities. Full back Mark Petterson took advantage of this and was stopped short of the line. A penalty ensued which was kicked to touch. A driving maul took Anselmians to the line where flanker Tevita Liku came up with the ball and a score of 10-18. Anselmians were now squeezing the home side into their 22 and another turn over ball saw flanker Scott Tunna in space on the right hand side. He side stepped the defence to score a deserved try and Mason added the extras to give a score of 10-25. The final try came on 31 minutes following a scrum. The ball was moved wide right with full back Petterson in the line and seeing space to go through three players and go in by the right hand post. Mason converted to give a final score of 10-32. Anselmians ended the match with a number of enterprising moves and some good inter linking play between forwards and backs.
They now look forward to a top of the table clash with Widnes next Saturday.
