U16’s Mid-Season Review
We commenced the season back in September with 27 players signed up.
Henry Kellet as captain and Matthew Bowden and Oliver Arnold as vice-captains.
A new team kit was given to the players with each having their position number on the back.
The first match was away at New Brighton which was a highly competitive game with Saints winning 46-
10, overcoming rough tactics to play some exciting, flowing rugby.
Two weeks later we played Wirral at home. The team were up to the challenge and started strongly,
going ahead by two tries in the 1 st quarter of the game. Wirral fought back in the 2 nd half but couldn’t
catch Saints high point margin. A first memorable victory over an experienced Wirral team.
Next up was Hoylake at home with a narrow defeat after being ahead most of the match.
At the end of October, we made the trip up to Wigan, followed by an away game at Rhyl. In all games
the lads have played with pride, passion and a style.
This season several of our players were chosen to join the Sale Sharks DPP training program. Well done
to Matthew Bowden, Henry Kellet, Max Frodsham, Jayden Davies, along with Dylan Hodkinson who is
training with Sale Academy.
This coming Sunday 8 th January sees the team have their much-anticipated Cup game away at Crewe and
Nantwich with a strong squad ready for the challenge.
