Park have had a decent league campaign to date, only losing twice; to Glossop away and Manchester at home. They successfully overcame higher league opposition in the previous round of the Cup in beating Northwich.
Saints haven’t fared well in previous encounters against their illustrious opponents losing both league games a couple of seasons ago whilst in North 1 West.
If Saints have aspirations for promotion, today will be a perfect barometer to see if they will be a yo-yo team as previously witnessed or if we have a squad capable of surviving at the higher level.
To date Saints remain unbeaten this season but this will be the biggest test of the season so far and one I know the whole squad are looking forward to. In the last round Saints overcame a spirited Crewe and Nantwich squad. With a packed house lets hope it’s a belting game.
Degsy and Tommy have selected the following today – Steve Brooks starts at loose head to partner the Salisbury Bros in the front row. Niall Cavanagh playing against his former club is partnered by Fred Clark in the row. The back row is made up of Will Grabe, Ewan Nolan & the impressive Tom Gilbert who has really found his 1st team feet this season. In the backs skipper Liam Sadler starts at 9 partnering Dai Morley at half back. Tommy Banks is partnered with James Otutaha in the Centres. Today’s back 3 sees Andy Cummings at full back with Paul Selwood and Adam Bramall on the wings. Today’s game changers are Craig Jones, Kel Friday, Paul Sherlock , Jon Bonner and expectant Dad Jack Richards who at the time of going to print is waiting on baby No 2 (Good luck Jack & Sophie the Anselmian family wishes You and Yours the best) .
Neil Redfearn and his 2nd XV travel to play Knutsford 1 in their own cup competition again enjoying a break from league rugby.
Tim and his “Mavericks” are having a well-earned rest from their position at the summit of their own league .
This season to date we have used over 100 players across our 3 teams which is great considering that many clubs are struggling to field 2 teams on any given Saturday, let’s hope we can keep up the forward momentum.
