Next week's action at Anselmians

Training
Training as normal this week Tuesday & Thursday evenings at Vauxhall’s. The rugby committee have stressed that training is not just for 1st team players, everyone benefits from regular training.

They are keen to involve everyone so that every player is familiar with how we want to play and that they can move seamlessly up the teams.

If you have recently finished at university and are back in the area and want to play again we want to see you.

If you know of anyone interested in playing for the club, a family member, friend, colleague or acquaintance  encourage them to come to training, if you want to contact one of the rugby committee their contact details are:

Director of Rugby:…Jamie Kimpton….07976 236448……..Co-Director of Rugby…Steve Pilgrim….07776 295083………Head Coach….Liam McGovern…07708 705697……Coach……Liam Sadler………07896 683551

Availability
The new season is almost upon us, the league program for the senior teams starts on Saturday 7th September.

It would help the selection committee if ALL players could contact either one of those listed above or one of the team managers to confirm whether or not they are available to play at the start of the season.

With some players still taking summer holidays and some university students around in early September it would certainly help the selectors if they have a comprehensive list of who is available to play.

 ANSELMIANS GOLF DAY
This event is sold out with more than 140 members and guests for golf, dinner, and entertainment. This is a Club fundraising event and we still need more raffle prizes. To donate a prize, contact: jimmckenzie1@sky.com

Saturday 31st August
This coming Saturday club members & supporters will get the opportunity to see the first team in action for the first time this season when they travel to Wilmslow for a Cheshire cup tie.

It will be a tough game to start the season with, Wilmslow were in North Premier division last season but were relegated at the end of the season to North 1 West.

The team would no doubt apricate as much support as possible at Wilmslow next Saturday, the weather forecast is very good for next weekend so why take yourselves off into the Cheshire countryside and support the team.

Wilmslow RUFC, Pownall Park, Kings Road, Wilmslow SK9 5PZ

If you can’t make it as far as Wilmslow next Saturday there is a game on at Vauxhall’s, a team made up from our 2nd & 3rd team squads are playing a Combined Services team with a 1pm kick off.

The game has been organised by one of our veteran players Steve Stockford a former guardsman.

Steve tells me there will be a presentation prior to the game, an organisation called “The Widows sons masonic motorcycle association” have raised funds to buy a defibrillator for the combined services.

The defibrillator will be presented to the Combined Services prior to the match.

After the game Steve is planning to run a raffle to raise funds for “Winnie Mabaso” foundation, which is a young girls orphanage in South Africa that does great work in poor areas a fantastic charity.

Any donation of raffle prizes, bottles of booze, boxes of chocolates etc would be much appreciated.
