Highlights from last night's AGM

At last evening's Annual General Meeting, Chairman, Ravi Sibal, announced that all the elements were now in place to give the final go ahead for the new clubhouse build. Consequently, this morning, the building contract was put in place with Lockwoods, the preferred contractor.

It has been a hard, long road with delays created only by the Directors' insistence that the project would be completely self-funded by the housing development with no additional cost, or risk, to members. This has now been achieved by careful management of the project's configuration and specifications. The result will be a superb new facility for our members to enjoy and be proud of and for our visitors to envy.

Work on the new pitches started 3 months ago and is now well underway with the top surfaces currently being seeded. We will have two level, large match pitches and a good-sized training pitch. The work done is very impressive.

The work on the clubhouse will now commence in 3 to 4 weeks once Lockwoods have sourced the materials and staffing for the site.

There were changes to the Board of Directors; Secretary, Mark Whaley resigned to be succeeded by Trevor Petterson returning to the Board. Also returning to the Board is Jim McKenzie. New elected Directors are: Richie Kimpton, Richie Burnett, Steve Pilgrim and Roy Brennan. All have unique skills and considerable energy to bring to the management of the Club.

The full Board of Directors is now:

Ravi Sibal (Chairman)
Trevor Petterson (Secretary)
Neil Turner (Finance)
Jamie Kimpton ( Director of Rugby)
Steve Pilgrim (Co-Director of Rugby)
Paul Kay (Mini and Junior)
Richie Kimpton (Facilities)
Richie Burnett (Marketing)
Roy Brennan (Property)
Jim McKenzie (Executive)

The Club's Articles of Association provide for up to 12 Directors. So, there is the option to add 2 more enthusiastic volunteers to the Board.

But, of course, we still need other volunteers to get involved, throughout the club, to keep the club operating efficiently and prospering. Please step up if you can help out!
