Broughton Park - Match Preview

Anselmians travel to Broughton Park this weekend with renewed confidence after a second encouraging display. The demolition of Oswestry was a better performance than the previous week’s defeat of Wigan and, with over hundred points scored in these two games, the team will surely be puzzled as to why they only managed seventy-six points in their previous six matches.
Broughton Park is a big club with a proud history and facilities that are second to none. They warmed up for today’s encounter with a 26-5 victory last Saturday at local rivals, Eccles, in the quarter-final of the Lancashire Trophy, a far more prestigious competition than the devalued Cheshire “Cup” competitions.
In the League, they have had mixed fortunes thus far. Good victories against Wigan, Bowdon and Sefton are mixed with narrow defeats at Douglas, Widnes and Glossop mean they are firmly entrenched in the mid-table, but they remain unbeaten at home this term.
Previous clashes between the two clubs have been close affairs. Our last encounters back in 2011-12 season in North One West went with home advantage. Park were relegated that year and we would follow them a year later. In contrast, Park made it back up again the following season and would spend two seasons at the higher level before slipping back into South Lancashire/Cheshire One at the end of last season.
A close, but high-scoring match is expected.
