Emboldened by their fine win against promotion contenders Glossop last weekend, the 1st XV travel to Leigh this Saturday.
Leigh, like Saints, are having a fine season. Currently fourth, they have won eleven of their eighteen games, drawing two and losing only five.
Last October, we narrowly won a fast, open game at Rivacre Road, 32-26, and Leigh have only lost three times since. Unusually, they have had two draws, against Southport and Bolton, but, in testimony to their indomitable attitude, they have won away by a single point against Sefton and Tarleton in the last minutes of the matches.
There were signs of a return to form for Anselmians against Glossop after disappointments against De La Salle and away at Eccles, but Anselmians will need to be at their best if they are defeat a side only one place above them in the league table.
It promises to be a fast-moving celebration of open rugby and, hopefully, Saints will display that flair which has only appeared fitfully since Christmas.
