The Saints Name a Strong Team for Visit by Manchester
Head Coach, Simon Mason been able to call on a strong side for the New Year restart to the season. After what seems an interminable lay-off - (what happened to the Boxing Day and New Year's Day fixtures of the writer's youth?) - the season gets back under way with a tough home encounter against former giants of the game - Manchester RFC. A notable absence through injury is Harry O'Loughlin who has been so powerful for us so far this season. Paul Hellier moves to No 8 with Jack Walsh taking Paul's place in the second row. Mario Quittadamo returns at prop replacing Lewis Kean whose formidable performance against LSH earns him what will surely be an early appearance off the bench.
This team is every bit as strong as that which overcame chart-toppers LSH, away from home, immediately before the break and, if it can repeat the same spirited performance and dogged defence, then a comfortable home win is surely on the cards. However, it is two years since we last overcame our visitors so we need to be on our mettle in what will certainly be a bit of a mud bath if the persistent rain does not relent.
For the supporters, the luncheon club will be in full swing from 1pm with a hearty 3 course meal for just a tenner - everyone is welcome to join us.
We extend a warm welcome to all our visiting players, officials and supporters.
