Yesterday's First Try
- Charlie Hough

After coming close to their first win of the season last weekend away at Manchester the 1st team finally got the victory yesterday which hopefully will ignite their season.

We have never played Waterloo at first team level before but the lads were not overawed and gained a well-deserved 18 – 12 win. We recruited quite few new players during the summer, it’s a testament to the hard work of the players & coaches Andy McKinney & Andy Powell that the early season errors are disappearing and the squad are gelling into a team, onwards and upwards.

This coming Saturday it’s a trip to Salford to play De La Salle.

Results from North 1 West:

Anselmians 18 Waterloo 12
Broughton Park 48 De La Salle 0
Northwich 34 Carlisle 5
Birkenhead Park 33 Blackburn 18
Burnage 28 Stockport 19
Douglas 58 Penrith 13
Warrington 48 Manchester 20

The Crusaders (2nd XV) ended up with no game yesterday after a very late cry off by Lymm Kestrels (3rd XV), this coming Saturday they play Capenhurst at Vauxhall’s.

Results from Division 3 South:

Didsbury Toc H 3 5 Prenton 2 29
Knutsford 1 20 Carrington 1 24
Lymm Kestrels L Anselmians 2 W
Manchester 2 71 Lymm Eagles 14
Old Bedians 2 21 Moore 21
Sefton 2 31 Capenhurst 7
Village Spartans 74 Glossop 3 22

Due to an unusually large number of players not being available yesterday we had to concede the Mavericks (3rd XV) game against Christleton, hopefully they will have a full squad this coming Saturday for their trip to the other end of the Wirral to play Oldershaw 2.

Results from Division 5 West:

Anselmians 3 L Christleton W
Ellesmere Port 2 36 Wirral 4 10
Helsby 2 40 Prenton 3 10
New Brighton 3 28 Parkonians 2 29
Port Sunlight 2 W Oldershaw 2 L

PLEASE NOTE THIS COMING SATURDAY 27th OCTOBER IS THE FINAL 3pm KICK OFF BEFORE THE WINTER MONTHS, FROM SATURDAY 3rd NOVEMBER WE SWITCH TO 2.15pm KICK OFF FOR THE WHOLE OF NOVEMBER, DECEMBER, JANUARY & FEBRUARY.

Annual Subscriptions
With the re-development our ground at Eastham resulting in temporary homes for our senior teams at Vauxhalls Sports Club & mini, junior & ladies squad at Port Sunlight RFC on a Sunday Membership subscriptions become even more important to the financial well-being of the club.

The club would prefer members to pay their subscriptions by monthly direct debit as it gives the club an income stream all year round it also spreads the load for the member.
